HID Lights Not Working

When your HID lights do not work at all, there are many simple solutions to this problem.
Check some of the most frequent easy fixes first before clicking a link.

Simple Solutions to check for:

 Fuses:
Check all fuses, on relay harness if one is installed, or in the vehicle fuse box (refer to your vehicles owners manual for correct fuse)
If fuse is blown, and your fuse is a 10A or 15A fuse, I would upgrade to 20A, as this is a safe increase for HID ballasts. If the fuse blows again then there is a possible short. The metal from a wire on the positive wire may be touching the metal on the negative wire. Fix this now and replace the fuse again.

Connections:
Disconnect and reconnect all HID kit wires, make sure connections to and from ballast "CLICK". Make sure the metal pins on connectors are not bent thus not being able to go into the hole of the other connector. Also remember, HID ballasts are polarity sensitive*. Make sure the Positive and the Negative are going into the right side of the input connector on the HID ballasts.

Now once you have done the above and you are still having an issue, please click in the link that matches your issue the most:

* polarity sensitive = A connector with two wires, one wire is for Positive Voltage Only, other is for Negative Voltage Only, if you connect a Negative wire to the input Positive wire, you are reversing the polarity and the electronic device will not operate.

Relay Harness Installed

The HID lights work for a second, but then turn off immediately:

Check the HID bulb, if the bulb has a black or hazed color in the capsule glass then you may need new bulbs.
Always replace in pairs, you can get new bulbs here: HID Replacement Bulbs

Bulb looks fine? Check your bulb connections. Disconnect and reconnect your connections.

Still giving you problems? It's rare, but in some instances the actual relay will fail on the Relay Harnesses.
Order a new Relay for your relay harness here: HID Accessories

New bulbs, new relay for your harness? But still giving you problems? Connect the ballast directly to a fully charged 12v battery with the HID bulbs connected, if it fires up fine with no problems then your ballasts and bulb are OK. The issue may be with your harness or vehicle harness. Order a new Relay harness here: HID Accessories

New Bulbs, and when you hook up the ballast to a fully charged 12v battery it gave you the same problem? You need a new HID ballast.

Still giving you problems? Some vehicles use Daytime Running Lights (DRL) or Auto lights. DRL sometimes will pulse the power at 6 times per second or just give a very low voltage to the ballasts. This will then make the ballast not operate to optimum standards. To get your ballasts to work with DRL or some Auto light systems you will need a DRL Relay harness.
NOTE: Adding a DRL Relay harness to vehicles that do not have DRL will still help fix many HID issues.

Connect the ballast directly to a fully charged 12v battery with the HID bulbs connected, if it fires up fine with no problems then your ballasts and bulb are OK. The issue may be with your vehicle harness. Try connecting the DRL Relay Harness input to an alternate switched connection like your corner lights.

The HID lights do not work at all:

Check the vehicles fuses, it may be needed to upgrade to a 20A fuse for your HID ballasts to operate at their optimum standard. Do not go over the recommended 20A fuse. If your 20A fuse blows, there may be a short in the wires. The metal from the positive wire and the metal from the negative wire are touching creating the short. Fix this now and replace the fuse.

Not the fuse? Check the HID bulb, if the bulb has a black or hazed color in the capsule glass then you may need new bulbs.
